Supplementary Objectives
Additional features
Even with the features underpinning the Price Objective and the Access Objective in place, there are important additional features and issues that also need to be addressed for the effective operation of a FIT law.
In particular, these include:
- combining the FIT law with a target for the amount of electricity from renewable energy
- requiring the government to make regular progress reports
- ensuring that renewable energy plants meet technical and safety standards
- promoting local content
- minimising administrative barriers in the way of effective FIT law operation
- the importance of the FIT system being set out in law not a policy, and finally
- sorting out the legal nuts and bolts
